I’m giving a talk this week at the University on Thursday, at 6:30pm in Professional Studies Building Room 166. It’s my big lecture for the year and it’s open to the public. If you have an interest in social media or journalism, you should come!

“Professionally social: selfies, tone and the fragile business of being a professional on social media”

How to build an online persona in Alaska that feels authentic, makes the most of our unique state and is good for you professionally. (Hint: quit it with the selfie face.)

In case you missed it, here’s an episode of public television’s Alaska Edition, with me and KTUU’s Kyle Hopkins discussing internet culture and the news in Alaska with Zachariah Hughes. (This was the time I arrived in polar fleece and unwashed hair, thinking I was going on radio but it turned out I was mistaken. I WAS GOING ON TV. Thanks to the generous APRN dressing room closet and the help of Kaysie Ellingson, I threw together a (slightly frumpy but serviceable) TV look (AKA Swiss Miss hair braids and someone’s too large blazer) in 2 minutes. Not recommended. Reading your email, on the other hand, is recommended.)
