21 #SoAnchorage Holiday Delights: #9, in praise of going for a walk when it’s light

Here is the truest, simplest way to get a boost this time of year: go for a walk when it is light. It’s a short 5-hour window and most of us are at work during it, but as a longtime Anchorage person, I’ll tell you, a daylight walk makes you remember how beautiful and exotic this town is.  So go. Even when it’s cloudy and dusky all day like it was today. I order you to. You never know what you might run into. I promise it will be more alive than anything found at your desk.

Look here is a fat-tire biker.

And some goof-balls.

And big ol’ sky and those mountains. Man.

Ombre ice, so Pinterest.

Look, somebody decorated a tree along the trail. See, now I feel merry!

(It’s just after the mosaic bench when you’re headed toward Earthquake Park from Westchester, just in case you’re thinking about a stroll.)

  • My oldest stayed home from preschool this morning because she was feeling a bit funky, but a bit later she was feeling better so we decided to get some fresh air and go for a walk. We made it to the decorated tree and both my girls LOVED it. Thanks for the post 🙂
